National Product Manager – Lighting, Rigging and Power

Summary

This position leads the Lighting, Rigging & Power category nationally. Responsibilities include shaping product strategy, managing vendor relationships, overseeing purchasing, driving quality control, and managing product repairs. You will work closely with each branch to maximize the reliability and readiness of inventory used across corporate events, exhibits, and live shows. Collaborating with Operations, Sales, and Marketing, you will help develop scalable solutions that integrate across disciplines. Your voice will be a key element in how Rentex teams understand our products and how they support customer needs.

 

Position goals

  • Uptime & Reliability: Minimize repeat failures and repair time through standardized processes, strategic spare inventory, and prioritized maintenance.
  • The right products: Leverage experience, market insights, and data to select gear that aligns with customer needs and industry trends.
  • Speed to Ready: Ensure inventory is prepared to scale quickly; reduce repair cycle time through proactive planning and management.
  • Vendor Partnerships: Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to secure favorable pricing, product support, and service.
  • Marketing Support: Provide curated, accurate product information to Sales and Marketing teams to support promotional efforts.
  • Quality Standards: Author and maintain QC guides and handling standards for all related equipment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage category roadmap; identify, evaluate, and select new fixtures, rigging hardware, power distro, cabling, and accessories.
  • Build business cases for product decisions using TCO, utilization data, and market trends.
  • Manage every product detail – QC and packaging standards, training, accessories, complementary products.
  • Source new vendors and negotiate with existing ones; manage vendor and service partner support
  • Manage purchases; guide the Purchasing, Inventory, and Operational team on timelines.
  • Set expectations for warranty and post-warranty repairs with vendors and internal teams
  • Monitor damaged equipment pipeline; prioritize repairs with business needs in mind.
  • Maintain advanced spares and plans for high‑risk SKUs; manage obsolescence.
  • Lead training sessions for branch QC managers, leads, and technicians.
  • Provide sales and technical support as a subject matter expert when needed
  • Track utilization, failure modes, and repair costs to help drive decision-making
  • Present recommendations to leadership for capital planning and process improvements.

    Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 – 7+ years in live events/equipment rental with a focus on lighting, rigging, and/or power.
  • Demonstrated experience in making purchasing/vendor decisions and setting technical standards.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills across common lighting control (DMX/sACN), rigging hardware, and temporary power systems.
  • Strong project management, communication, and written documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with inventory/repair systems and Microsoft 365.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading and managing at a national scale.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices and safety considerations for rigging and temporary power.
  • Possess or willingness to achieve training certification for rigging and temporary power systems.
  • Proven savings via vendor negotiation and packaging/case standardization.
  • Experience authoring QC documentation and training programs.

 

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Warehouse and office mix; hands‑on with equipment and case builds.
  • Lift/move up to 50 lbs
  • Travel to branches, trade shows, and vendors as needed.
